Play Audition

I got an email from my agent about an audition for a play called
"Studs" by Gorden Steel. It's a play about football, and I'm
auditioning for the role of Kylie. It's a spring tour, so a lot of
performances, and I don't know how good I am at plays. Scare acting
taught me how to project my voice properly, and I won't know the
people, therefore it won't be like college.
Laura from Writers' Block made me feel better about the play itself by
telling me how good they play write was.

Also today I recorded my radio piece about one of my favourite films,
and from what I heard of it, I sounded extremely posh, and very
uninspiring! Oh well, better luck next time!

Almost famous (on itv's look north)

I was interviewed for itv about my friend's, John Noble, student project.
He's making a commercial/trailer for the Regent cinema in Redcar
(famous for being in Atonement).
He needed lots of extras to play the cinema audience, so he was on the
radio, in the newspaper (even though they made it sound like he made
Atonement) and on itv. I was interviewed too, but the stand-in
interviewer gave me too much to think about saying, so I came off
sounding boring and mumbling my words, so obviously they didn't use
it. But apparently you could see me in the background!

It makes me think I should just apply for the acting workshop I saw
advertised. Over six weeks, six three-hour sessions in London with
different casting directors, learning about audition techniques. £150,
but then I'd have to get to London every week for six weeks!

While work is slow ...

...I have decided to start working on props and special effects makeup for the gorey zombie film i've agreed to work on for one of the Ccad students.
So far i've made a zombie bite for my arm, and i have lots more planned.

(Still really hoping acting work picks up though!)

It needs a lot more fake blood and stuff, but it's meant to go on an arm. (the picture looks better on my phone!)
Once on an arm, i can match the skin tone properly and blend it away.

Live studio project tomorrow.

After weeks of rehearsals, tomorrow is the day!

I'm playing an English version of Regina George (Mean Girls), but the other two actresses for my scene have yet to turn up, so it looks as though two crew members will be filling in (even though one is a guy!).

It will hopefully all go right in the end, the tech rehearsal didn't go so badly, did it?

Forgotton Posts...

Some time in December, i got a phone call from Tom Marshall, a film maker. I'd seen his film, "Happy Clapper" at concept film night, and it was clearly one of the best on show.

Tom called me because he was entering a short film competition for Pepsi, and was wondering if i would like a small part in it.
I think it was one of the easiest jobs i've done so far! I just sat up and looked lovingly at the other actor, about an hours work!
But Tom Marshall confidently told me that he will remember me for future projects, when he has a real budget.

Getting back up to date, i spent Monday in a wedding dress outside in the bitter cold, filming a commercial for The Wool Room, a Bradford based company, which will be used for the live studio project, and on the company's website.

Bad news!

A great start to the New Year!

I've just heard from the producer of Heretic, that their main investor has just pulled out! This means that they have to postpone the shoot until August.

They have assured me that it will still definitely be going ahead, and they are guaranteeing me a part, but they think that if they went ahead with the February shoot they wouldn't be making the best film they could. So August it is!

I just hope that everything happens for a reason, and that there's a bloody great reason for this!
